Lucid Art Nouveau
Everyday life with a new aesthetic
Art Nouveau a decorative art style in architecture and design prominent in western Europe and the USA from 1890 till 1920, characterized by intricate linear designs and flowing curves based on natural forms. A compelling and energetic style in the visual arts inspired by plant forms and nature, Art nouveau took organic subjects and flattened and abstracted them into sophisticated, sinuous and flowing motifs including an accent on the fluidity of line, geometric shapes, asymmetrical compositions, and a bold synthesis of structure and decoration.

Piano Keys & Parts
Looking at an acoustic grand piano you will find an amazing instrument with well over 12.000 parts. From a case consisting of an outer and inner rim, with heavy supporting beams underneath, where the soundboard rests and the frame is attached. Tuning pins in the pin block will serve to tension and tune some 230 steel strings which are strung on the cast iron frame which have to withstand a string tension of over 20tons.
Explaining the actual moving parts.
The piano action is composed of a complex mechanism to activate keys, hammers and dampers. While pressing the piano keys these will activate the hammers that strike rapidly the strings while dampers and pedals control the short or extended vibration of the strings. All of this magically synchronized in order to produce music. This string hammer action was invented by Bartolomeo Cristofori when he created the pianoforte around 1700.
Blüthner ALIQUOT PATENT since 1872
Generations of Grand Piano makers have been constantly attempting to improve the quality of their instruments. Julius Blüthner made an important contribution with the development of the Aliquot System.
Patented for the first time in 1872, it was one more step that provided Blüthner’s well known warm and romantic sound. The patented Blüthner Aliquot System consists of an additional fourth string in the treble section which is not struck by the hammer. The fourth string vibrates by resonance and introduces additional overtones which enrich the dynamic sound.
The Fourth String.
The fourth string is stimulated to vibrate through sympathetic resonance when the other three strings are struck, which results in an acoustical system enriching the overtone spectrum. It produces a very dynamic sound, which is audible over a wide range. This unique effect conveys the resonant treble of the Blüthner piano. As an example, it is possible to experience this special effect in many pianoforte compositions giving an added dimension in tone color and dynamics. Another factor that is that all Blüthner strings are individually hitched. For optimum effect, precise tuning is essential. In today’s instruments the ‘aliquot strings’ are tuned in unison with the trichords.
Many people are sceptical, but it is easy to test. Simply play a note alternately muting and then leaving the fourth string to vibrate.

Warranty
All of our pianos are shipped from the Blüthner Pianofortefabrik to your indicated address. Blüthner Pianofortefabrik gives a 5 year warranty on your Lucid piano and a 30 year warranty on the Evonik Acrylic.
Each piano is meticulously inspected upon departure from our factory in order to arrive in perfect condition. The piano should settle over the course of a couple of weeks after delivery and assembly in order to dispatch a professional piano tuner to make sure everything is working perfectly.
QRS Pianomation III Players System has a standard 2 year warranty.
